Mike Skolnik

Mike Skolnik, CPA/CA runs the day-to-day operations of BTS and BTS LLP. Joining BTS in 2018 and co-founding BTS, LLP in 2019, Mike manages our staff of accountants and financial analysts and offers a variety of financial services with a focus on the media and entertainment industry. These include, but are not limited to, corporate tax advice & filings, trial balance review & financial statement compilation, consulting on film, TV & digital media tax credit eligibility, advising on production financing & accounting issues, and reviewing corporate structures for tax credit optimization.

Mike began his accounting career in 2011 at Segal LLP, a mid-sized Toronto accounting firm. In 2014, Mike joined Boat Rocker Media (formerly Temple Street Productions) as the Director of Finance and was present for the company’s transition from Canadian Producer to a Global Content Creator. In this role, Mike was responsible for all production financing needs, from reviewing budgets & finance plans & arranging interim financing, to overseeing production and post-production accounting and the audit process, to the collection of tax credits and other funding sources. Ultimately, Mike collected more than $100 million in tax credits during his four years at Boat Rocker. In this role, Mike was also involved in the corporate reporting side of the entertainment industry, compiling quarterly consolidated financial reports for Boat Rocker’s public shareholders.

In addition to being a passionate bean-counter, Mike is a guitar-playing, avid NBA fan who spends a lot of time with his dog.

Mike holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Master of Management and Professional Accounting, both from the University of Toronto.
