BTS was founded in 2002 by Thomas Walden, CPA and Eric Birnberg, LLB to provide one-stop, cost effective and comprehensive business affairs services to our clients.
We manage all Canadian and US film and television tax incentive filings and collections, including preliminary applications, final applications and registrations, CPA and regulatory audit file preparations, and liaise with tax authorities through to the completion of the tax audit, collection of the tax refund(s) and repayment of bank loans. Previous to Behind The Scenes, the principals have experience with the largest entertainment companies in Canada including Atlantis, Alliance Atlantis, Lions Gate, Salter Street Films, Cineplex Odeon and Concert Productions International (CPI). We have worked on over 500 productions and collected hundreds of millions in tax incentives for our clients.
We assist with the structuring and administering of international and inter-provincial treaty applications, and complete and manage applications for government and private investments including Telefilm, NOHFC, OMDC Film Fund, Newfoundland Film, BC Film, Shaw, Cogeco and the Greenberg Fund amongst others. We are known for our completeness and excellent service to our clients and have garnered a well-earned reputation in the industry.
